§ about
We hate tutorial videos too. So we built something that runs.
PyRun is a browser-first place to learn Python — read a short lesson, edit code in a real editor, hit Run, see the result. Nothing to install: your Python actually executes on your own machine, inside the tab. The first 5 lessons and the whole playground are free, no account or card needed; the full 116-lesson curriculum is a paid plan.
How it works
- Pyodide — CPython compiled to WebAssembly — runs in a dedicated Web Worker so heavy code can't freeze the UI.
- Monaco Editor (the engine behind VS Code) gives you syntax highlighting, brackets, indenting, and keyboard shortcuts.
- Auto-package install — write
import numpy and the worker fetches it on first use. - Progress is written to
localStorage first so the page never waits on a network round-trip. If you're signed in, it also syncs to our database (Postgres, hosted on Neon) so your lessons, exercise results and published projects follow you to another device. - Sharing a one-off snippet encodes it in the URL hash — that never touches the server. Publishing a project is the opposite: it's stored and served by us, on purpose, so the link keeps working for other people.
Stack
- Next.js 15 (App Router) + React 19
- Tailwind CSS 4
- Pyodide 0.26 (CDN)
- Monaco Editor
- Postgres (Neon) for accounts, progress and published projects
- Hosted on Vercel
Tradeoffs you should know
- First lesson loads ~10 MB of Pyodide runtime. After that it's cached.
- Stopping a run terminates the worker — Python state (variables, imports) resets.
- Pyodide can't do everything CPython can. Some C-extensions aren't available; networking is limited to what the browser allows.
What's free, and what isn't
We'd rather you read this here than hit it as a surprise three lessons in.
- Free, no card: the first 5 lessons and the playground need no account at all; the terminal, SQL playground and notebook are free with a free account. All four tools are free in full — they run on your machine, so they cost us nothing to serve.
- Pro — ₹299/month: the remaining lessons out of 116, all 333 graded exercises, publishing, and the certificate. Yearly and lifetime options are on the pricing page.
- AI code review is not included in any plan. It's bring-your-own-key: you paste your own API key, your provider bills you, and we don't resell it or mark it up. Everything else works without it.
Running your Python on your own CPU is what keeps the free tier genuinely free — we pay for accounts, progress sync and hosting the projects you publish, not for executing your code.

context · about
Why Neuraforce built PyRun
PyRun is built by Neuraforce, a small AI-engineering studio in India. We kept meeting CS students who had watched 40 hours of Python videos on YouTube and still couldn’t debug a KeyError. Videos teach recognition, not recall — you nod along, then freeze at a blank editor. So we built the opposite: a code-first platform where you type from minute one, get stuck, and get unblocked by graded exercises that check your actual code instead of pointing at a timestamp. Our mission is narrow and unfashionable: get Indian students from “I know Python” to “I shipped Python” before placement season. No certificates for showing up, no gamified streaks for streak’s sake — just the reps that matter.
