Where it ends: Build a REST API with FastAPI that stores data in SQL, checks a login, has tests, and deploys.
The first 5 lessons are free, no account needed. The rest are in Pro, ₹299/month. CS or IT students and career switchers who want to build the server side of real apps.
A backend developer writes the part of an app nobody sees: the endpoints a phone app or website calls, the database behind them, and the login that decides who may call what. In Python that is Flask or FastAPI for the routes, SQL through SQLAlchemy for the data, Alembic for changing the schema safely, pytest so a change does not break yesterday's work, and logging so you can tell what went wrong in production. Django is the other common stack and is not taught here yet.
Take the lessons top to bottom. Each opens with code you run in the browser and ends with graded exercises. Already know the foundations? The level test tells you where to jump in.
After this: Read and write everyday Python: variables, loops, lists, dicts, functions, errors.
After this: Organise code into classes and modules, with type hints and decorators (Flask routes are decorators).
After this: Understand requests and responses, then serve them with Flask and FastAPI, with a real login.
After this: Store and query data with SQL, SQLAlchemy and migrations.
After this: Tests, logs and a deployment.
Free and printable. Every snippet on them was run on Python 3.12 before publishing.
Free. Write your answer and run the tests in the browser; the tests check correctness, not speed.
An async, decorator-driven bot you deploy and keep running. It exercises the same HTTP, async and deployment muscles as an API, though it is a bot rather than a REST service.
Finishing this path gives you the Python part of the job. It is not, by itself, a qualification for it. The Backend Developer (Python) role page has the skills list and the workspace templates.
